Canada’s Senate has just issued a Report on the situation of its foreign service, the first in 40 years.
Inspired by the work of other countries that have implemented a Diplomatic Modernization Exercise, it makes 29 Recommendations to ensure that the Foreign Office is fit for purpose in the 21st Century. They range from increasing outreach and breaking silos to reinforcing training and formalizing access to mentors.
