Peace in the Middle East, Geopolitics for Investors, the Failure of Globalism, and much more.
This is our eighth weekly Newsletter; we started this project roughly two months ago, and it now feels like gaining traction. Thank you for your support!
Some of the more recent additions to the Webpage include the following:
· 13 Days in September, by Lawrence Wright (Books&More): This is a detailed account of the Camp David negotiations that led to the peace agreement between Israel and Egypt in 1978. It can be a particularly relevant model for future talks to bring peace to the region. If you thought it was easier then, the book reminds that when the Egyptian President landed at Ben Gurion Airport “sharpshooters were stationed on the rooftops of the terminal buildings in case terrorists suddenly emerged from the presidential plane rather than Sadat himself.”
· Geopolitical Alpha, by Marko Papic (Books&More): A manual on how to incorporate the geopolitical component to investment decisions, focusing on strategic constraints, economic and political, that can determine the behavior of agents more forcefully than ideology.
· Us vs. Them, by Ian Bremmer (Books&More): A very frank and realistic book on the roots of political frustration, how populism uses it to exacerbate divisions, and why this should not be ignored. It can be read together with The Square and the Tower, by Niall Ferguson, on how political Networks and Hierarchies interact.
· Other additions include links to articles on Shi’ism, Geopolitical Europe and Guantanamo, as well as new relevant publications on the War in Gaza. You can check them all here.
